Register of practitioners

The Australian Register of Naturopaths and Herbalists is expected to be fully operational by mid-2011.

Until then there are a few things you can do to protect yourself against unqualified or unprofessional practitioners.

  • Make sure your practitioner is a member of a recognised professional association. 
  • Make sure your practitioner is eligible for private health insurance rebates for naturopathy or herbal medicine consultations (even if you don’t have private health insurance, private health insurers have quality control measures for practitioners).
  • Ask for referrals for specific practitioners from trusted sources.
