Registration Types

The majority of naturopaths and herbalists registering with ARONAH will apply for either general registration or non-practising registration.

 

General registration

General registration is available to practitioners who apply their skills and knowledge in any area relevant to the practice of naturopathy or Western herbal medicine. This includes, but is not limited to, the provision of direct clinical care.  Practitioners may apply for registration within one or more of the following divisions of the Australian Register of Naturopaths and Herbalists (ARONAH):

  • Naturopath
  • Western herbal medicine practitioner

Non-practising registration

Non-practising registration is available to members who use their skills and knowledge as a health practitioner except for the provision of direct clinical care. It includes working in: a direct non-clinical relationship with clients; management; administration; education; research; advisory, regulatory or policy development roles; and any other roles that impact on safe, effective delivery of services in the profession.

Practitioners may apply for registration within one or more of the following divisions of the Australian Register of Naturopaths and Herbalists (ARONAH):

  • Naturopath
  • Western herbal medicine practitioner

Limited registration

In addition to the two major categories of registration, applicants who do not fulfill the requirements outlined for general or non-practising registration may be invited to apply for limited registration. ARONAH associate membership

Anyone is eligible to become an ARONAH associate, however this will suit people who want to support ARONAH’s work but cant become a full ARONAH member.

This membership category is to financially support ARONAH’s work and add numbers for the push towards statutory registration

 

ARONAH student membership

All full and part time students who are studying naturopathy or Western herbal medicine at an appropriate education institution are eligible for student membership.

The month you join is defined as the month you send in your application, not when we contact you with its approval. Memberships are approved at each board meeting which occur every 2 months.

The ARONAH membership renewal for the naturopathy and Western herbal medicine profession is due 30 June each year

Refund Policy: Please choose carefully.  We do not give refunds if you simply change your mind or make a wrong decision. Once purchased, your membership lasts for a year.

Payment plans

ARONAH members who are not practicing for temporary reasons such as maternity leave, illness recovery, or natural disasters, and are suffering financial hardship as a result, can apply for a payment plan, or a fee waver. The ARONAH member must have paused practice for more than 6 months but less than 12 months. Each case will be decided at the discretion of the board and evidence may be required. If practice is paused for more than 12 months, then the ARONAH member may transfer their membership to the Non-Practising category.  In addition – ARONAH’s Recency of practice policy may apply here as well.
